Each Summer, throughout July and August, our Chief Instructor, Gheorghe Husar, runs a Krav Maga for Young People programme through Tigers Trust for teenagers and young people taking part in National Citizen Service (NCS).
NCS feel, as we do, that knowing how to defend yourself is an invaluable skill and one of the groups of people that are most in need of Krav Maga Self Defence knowledge and practice are our young people. Fifteen and sixteen year olds are becoming more and more independent, getting jobs, etc. Seventeen years olds learning to drive – you meet a whole new environment with, unfortunately, a whole new set of dangers. Many seventeen year olds will be thinking about university, college, or getting a job, nothing can prepare them better for being out and about like Krav Maga can.
Here at Spartans Academy we are so pleased to be reaching so many people with our expert Krav Maga knowledge and experience. The young people we have taught through Tigers Trust and NCS are always keen to learn…and have some fun.
This is what Kris at Tigers Trust had to say:
“The feedback from our participants was that they found the sessions really enjoyable and that they liked doing something different and that took them out of their comfort zone. They all said that they had learnt something that could benefit them both now and in the future. From a personal point of view, I really liked the sessions and thought Gheorghe was incredibly knowledgeable. I really like how he made the sessions both challenging and fun, whilst keeping the group engaged at all times. He had a really good manner with the groups and his firm approach is something that I think the Group’s will benefit from. He was very approachable and took time at the end to answer any specific questions the group had and give demonstrations to different situations that perhaps hadn’t been covered in the session. I thought the basic self-defence sessions were brilliant and something that I feel everybody, regardless of age, sex or ability could benefit from and it’s something we would definitely like to do again on future NCS cohorts.”
