KRAV MAGA HISTORY
Created by Imi Lichtenfeld in the late 20th century, Krav Maga is a process of self-defense that combines a wide variety of grappling techniques from a variety of sources, including martial arts like boxing, muay thai, aikido, judo, and karate, along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga’s best-known feature is its focus on realistic combat situations.
It was collected from street-fighting fighting techniques developed by boxing trainer Imi Lichtenfeld, who learned his skills as a fighter and wrestler, out of his experience under Nazi power in the heart of Bratislava in the 1930s. Later on, Lichtenfeld relocated to Israel, and he organized a group to teach fighting skills to troops. This group became the basis for the Israel Defense Forces’ hand-to-hand combat training, which continues to this day.
In 1976, Lichtenfeld retired from military service and opened a karate school in Netanya, where he taught thousands of students.
Krav Maga is the most dangerous fighting self-defense strategy in the world. By studying Krav Maga, you can defeat unarmed attackers, take care of ground fights, and handle knives, guns, and sticks. Furthermore, you’ll find yourself able to eliminate your opponent regardless of your size, training background, or expertise level. Most important, you’ll uncover that you can understand this system in relatively little training.
The self-defense tactics in Krav Maga are straightforward, and concrete reactions are available for instant access whenever required. As the system is developed and improved, the efficacy of known techniques is continuously tested and revised.
