My journey with Krav Maga has started in September 2016. As most of the Spartans Academy students, I did not have a previous experience in a classic Martial Arts.
I had some exposure to the fighting system when I was growing up. My father, at that time, Polish Army Officer and PE and Close-Combat Instructor, has introduced me to some of the elements of Polish Army Close-Combat system. Unfortunately, that training did not last very long as my dad has soon retired from the active service and has not had time to continue with teaching me.
The combat bug stayed with me though and I have been looking for a fighting solution which would suite my character and my needs. The classic MAs, which loads of my friends trained, were too far from street-fighting reality for my liking. I wanted to learn something which is simple and effective, something what will give me a very good chance to defend myself and my family if needed.
In 2016 I came across Spartans Academy of Krav Maga advert and their offer of free 1st lesson. I decided to give it a go and got hooked up ever since. It has everything I was looking for: simplicity, effectiveness, situational awareness, ‘no rules’ approach, physical and psychological development. Civilian Krav Maga gives you ability to defend/survive when you’re attacked but most importantly, also teaches you how to avoid getting into a situation where these skills would be required.
In a late 2020, after few years of working hard to develop my skills and knowledge guided by one of the best Krav Maga instructors in the world, I have decided that the next natural step for me would be to progress into teaching. In May 2021 I have completed and passed the Krav Maga Instructor Course under Krav Maga Master Gheorghe Husar.
The Spartans motto is ‘Never Give up! Never Surrender!’, which among other things, means constant drive to improvement and development, and so, my Krav Maga journey continues…
