Our CHIEF INSTRUCTOR
Gheorghe Husar is one of the world’s most respected Krav Maga Masters and serves as the Chief Instructor at Spartans Academy of Krav Maga. With decades of experience in martial arts and tactical defence, Gheorghe is at the forefront of Krav Maga self defence training in the UK and Romania.

Strong Military and Security Background
Born in Romania, Gheorghe spent 11 years serving as a sergeant in the Romanian Army. After leaving in 2000, he entered the private security industry. For six years, he worked in close protection and tactical operations. His strong background in military and private security has shaped his approach to Krav Maga instruction.
Professional Martial Arts Training
Gheorghe trained under elite European and international Krav Maga instructors. In 2007, he completed his instructor certification with Eyal Yanilov. Two years later, he passed the Law Enforcement Instructor Course in Poland. This intensive program was led by renowned experts like Eyal Yanilov, Amnon Darsa, and Iftac.
Gheorghe is also qualified as a:
- Shooting Instructor
- Physical Training Instructor
- Self-Defence (Combat) Instructor
He has also competed in full-contact and non-contact military martial arts tournaments. These competitions have helped him gain valuable experience and build a respected reputation in the field.
Traditional Martial Arts Expertise
Before focusing on Krav Maga, Gheorghe trained in several traditional martial arts. He studied boxing, fencing, and wrestling from a young age. One of his early coaches was a national wrestling champion in Romania.
He holds the following ranks:
- 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate
- Red Belt in Taekwondo (military version – WTF)
- Brown Belt in Kyokushin (FRAM – Romanian Martial Arts Federation)
Founder of Spartans Academy
In 2008, Gheorghe established Spartans Academy of Krav Maga in northern England. His goal was to bring high-level Krav Maga self-defence training to the region. As a result, the academy quickly earned a reputation for excellence.
In 2014, he opened a second academy in Baia Mare, Romania. Today, Gheorghe is the Director and Chief Instructor of Spartans Academy. He leads classes, hosts seminars, and runs events across the UK and Romania. His team of certified instructors helps expand the academy’s impact even further.
Thanks to his dedication, experience, and leadership, Gheorghe Husar remains one of the most respected Krav Maga instructors in the world.
